The Minority in Parliament has taken a swipe at the Deputy Water Resources, Works and Housing Minister for describing them as hypocrites.
Sampson Ahi had accused the Minority Members of Parliament (MPs) of keeping mute days after Engineers and Planners (E&P) settled its indebtedness to Merchant Bank.
The Minority at a news conference maintained that E&P’s huge indebtedness to the bank resulted in its sale and challenged the company to pay up its debts.
But according to Mr. Ahi, the Minority has refused to publicly acknowledge the fact that E&P has settled its debt and therefore described them as hypocrites.
Speaking to Citi News however, the MP for Dorma and Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Kwaku Agyemang Manu, urged Mr. Ahi to concentrate his efforts in addressing the economic challenges facing Ghanaians.
“Let us talk about depreciation of our cedi, let us talk about the very poor economic management that we are facing, let us talk about financial indiscipline, the corruption that has taken over what he should have [been done] in this country. That is what the Minister should be concerned with,” he said.
He described Mr. Ahi’s comments as “propaganda, petty and funny.”
Mr. Manu also expressed shock at the loss of focus of the Minister saying, “he as a Minister; my God; he should be thinking of how to mop up dollars to help Ghana Water buy the chemicals that we import to come and treat water for people to consume.”
He questioned if Mr. Ahi was aware of his duties and responsibilities in the Ministry he was heading and consequently tasked him to provide the people of Accra and those in his home village with water and desist from making propaganda statements.
