While Boateng acknowledged that his team are expected to win a series of titles this season, he has also emphasised that none of those titles have been won yet.
The Bavarians have been a dominant force in the Bundesliga this year but for Boateng, the true test of this season’s success will hinge on their exploits in Europe.
“It won’t be ‘super-super’ until we win titles again this season. It’s been going well for us so far,” he told Bild on Wednesday.
“We are in a very good way in the league, but against Arsenal we will see where we currently really are,” said Boateng of one of the most highly anticipated fixtures of this year’s Champions League season.
“We play against an international top team. Should you, as the title holder, exit the Champions League in the last 16, the season is kaput,” added the German international.
