Rashid Sumaila back for Sundowns

Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila will feature for Mamelodi Sundowns tonight, as the ‘Brazilians’ for their big game in the ABSA Premiership.

The former Asante Kotoko defender joins Rodney Ramagalela, who is also in contention for tonight’s clash with Golden Arrows at Loftus Stadium.

According to statement on Sundowns’ website, the pair have recovered from their knocks, but fullback Punch Masenamela (flu) and midfielder Sibusiso Khumalo (hamstring) have been ruled out of the upcoming tie, as have veterans Esrom Nyandoro (hip) and Surprise Moriri (knee).

While new signing Thabo Nthethe could make his debut against Abafana Bes’thende, untested recruits Mukuka Mulenga and Glenn Verbauwhede are still both recovering from ankle surgery.

Sumaila suffered an injury while in action for Mamelodi Sundowns in their 2-2 draw with Maritzburg United in December.

He was expected to feature for his side against Kaizer Chiefs last week but had got hours before the match.

Sundowns are fourth on the league with with 25 points.
