West Africa: Obasanjo Heads Ecowas Observers for Ghana Polls

The ECOWAS Commission has appointed former President Olusegun Obasanjo as the Head of its 250 member Election Observer Mission to Ghana general elections on December 7, 2012.

It also announced that Ghana’s former President John Kuffuor, will head its 150 member team to observe Sierra Leone’s general elections scheduled for Saturday.

In a statement made available to THISDAY, Thursday, ECOWAS said both teams comprise of representatives of various segments of the West African society, who will carefully observe the conduct of the Presidential, legislative and local elections in both countries.

Their reports are expected to contribute to the deepening of democratic culture in the country.
