Jonathan Mensah struggled with a thigh injury last season
By Patrick Akoto
Ghana midfielder Rabiu Mohammed is optimistic Jonathan Mensah will return to the pitch next season for Evian with a renewed spirit.
Mensah, 21, played a cameo role in Evian’ League campaign last term due to a niggling thigh injury.
But the former Udinise centre-back has since recovered and expected to fight for a place in the starting line-up next term in the French Lique 1.
Rabiu, who masterfully commanded the centre for Evian with 24 starts, is convinced his compatriot will reclaim his place in the team.
“I know Joe very well and I must say he is a very good player. He got injured last season but I believe he will bounce back strongly in the upcoming season,” Mohammed told Accra-based Citi FM
“I hope and pray that there will be no more injuries as he returns to the pitch.
“His qualities are superb and we need him to be at his best for the good of both club and country.”
Mensah joined Evian on a four-year deal last season from Italian side Udinise.
