Wigs, hairpieces and make-up are common props on film sets.

But one prop that actors definitely don’t look forward to using are false teeth, as James Corden has been finding out while filming the biopic of Britain’s Got Talent star Paul Potts’ life.

The 34-year-old actor was seen struggling with the teeth, which he needed to make him look as much like Potts as possible, as he shot scenes alongside Italian co-star Valeria Bilello in a gondola in Venice on Wednesday.

Not holding back: James Cordem and co-star Valeria Bilello certainly appeared to be enjoying themselves as they shot a romantic scene on the set of new Paul Potts biopic in Venice, Italy on Wednesday

Cuddling up: The pair threw themselves into the kissing scene with a crowd of onlookers watching

However, Corden was forced to put the teeth back in as he shot a passionate kissing scene with Valeria in the city’s famous Piazza San
Marco.

It was reported earlier this year
that movie producer Harvey Weinstein and the bosses on the film,
entitled One Chance, went all out to ensure that the teeth were as
realistic as possible.

A source said: ‘The full make-up and
wardrobe team had a say, with the director, producers and exec producers
offering their thoughts.

‘It’s such a key part of the project
to get right. Paul Potts is a distinctive-looking bloke, and his face is
so well known in the UK, they have to get it spot on.’

But while the teeth might look realistic, they appear to be less than comfortable for Corden to wear while filming.

Corden has been working hard shooting
the new movie in Italy, and was spotted for the first time singing on
the set on Wednesday.

Spot the difference: The teeth make Corden look a lot like former BGT winner Potts

The Gavin & Stacey star has been
in Italy since the weekend to film One Chance, which tells the story of
tenor Paul’s rise to fame.

Weinstein’s
film company is producing the film about the former Carphone Warehouse
salesman, who leaped to fame when he won the first series of BGT in
2007.

The Billy Elliot-style story will tell how Gloucestershire-born Potts turned to singing when he was bullied at school.

He was a manager at a Carphone Warehouse in Bridgend when he found fame on BGT.

The film is directed by David Frankel, who helmed The Devil Wears Prada.

Although Valeria is playing a love interest of Paul, it’s not clear which character she’s playing.

Welsh actress Alexandra Roach will play
Potts’ wife Julie-Ann, who the singer met on the internet in 2001 and
wed two years later.

Meanwhile, Julie Walters will appear in the film as Potts’ mother, while Mackenzie Crook will star as his best friend.

Director David Frankel said of the project in an interview with Digital Spy recently: ‘It’s just the Rocky story. I think most people were not aware of the
full extent of the adversity that Potts suffered, but it’s also a love
story.

‘It’s a story of this guy who meets a woman online, a guy with no
confidence, still living at home with his parents and working in a
Carphone Warehouse, and he meets this woman who just believes in him.

‘Almost for no reason. Because she loves him, she believes in him, and
she won’t let him give up his dream.’

One Chance is due for release in 2013.
