Over 16,000 security personnel undergo special training

More than 16, 000 security personnel across the country are undergoing special training to build their capacity to handle any security challenge they are likely to face during the December elections.

They are drawn from the Police, Fire and the Immigration Service.

The Executive Diligence team partnered by five former senior officers of the Foreign Ministry with cumulated experience of one twenty years is facilitating the workshop.

Ambassador Alex Ntim Abankwa who is the Chairman of Executive Diligence remarked:

“We have been telling them that in some cases if it becomes necessary, it would be better for them to allow the boxes to be taken away because by that time, they would have recorded the results of the elections, and whatever they do just cannot change the result of the night.”

However, in instances where the boxes were taken away before the elections end, he said the electoral commissioner has the power to organize another election there.

Retired Chief Director of the Electoral Commission Kwame Damoah asked the security agencies to build a cordial relationship with presiding officers, who by law are in charge of the process on the election day.
