Cultural Fund Calls For Applications

Korkor Amarteifio

The Ghana Denmark Cultural Fund (GDCF) has made a call for applications from artistes and related arts organizations for support of projects that have been originated throughout the country.

According to Korkor Amarteifio, administrator of the fund, all projects relating to the arts were welcome. She however, stressed that precedence would be given to applications that involved excellence in ingenuity, creative works as well as traditional works with contemporary ideas.

The application forms, she noted could be obtained freely on www.gdcfonline.org, adding that forms must be filled and mailed to the address provided on the website.

Amarteifio, who doubled as the co-director for the Institute for Music and Development, added that diverse activities that tended to support and provide opportunities for participation in art experiences through audience development in various communities (including deprived ones), would be equally considered for support.

Since 2007, the GDCF has disbursed a total of GH¢533,210.43 to various organizations, educational institutions, groups, artistes, filmmakers and authors, who have successfully completed projects that have enhanced the development of the arts in Ghana.

Objectives of the GDCF, which was established in 2007, included the strengthening of inter-cultural relationships, mutual understanding and the promotion of democratic values through intercultural expressions and interactions.

It was also to foster Ghanaian/Danish collaborations through contemporary arts and the preservation of our shared cultural heritage, while enhancing the distribution of products from the creative sector.
