Giant killers Fame Academy lost out as Sharks, Plateau United, Lobi Stars and Gombe United marched on in the 2012 Federation Cup Saturday.

Sanusi Sani was the saviour when Gombe United sent packing giant killers Fame Academy of Lagos from the competition with a lone goal victory.

Fame Academy eliminated NPL side 3SC in the Round of 60.

Also in a Round of 32 match, Sharks FC beat First Bank of Lagos 3-1 in Lokoja. Bright Ejike opened scoring for Sharks in the 35th minute, before Gomo Onduku scored a brace in 44th and 86th minutes. Yinka Omolanke scored a consolation goal for First Bank.

Plateau United defeated fellow Nigeria National League (NNL) side Ranchers Bees 2-0 in Abuja with the enterprising rookie Mer Bulus scoring his second goal in the competition when he drew first blood for the Jos lads, before Patrick Ekeoku made it 2-0.

They are now the only surviving team representing Plateau State after JUTH crashed out following a 2-0 loss to Enugu Rangers Friday.

In Bauchi, Lobi Stars triumphed over another Nigeria premier League outfit Niger Tornadoes by a lone goal, which was scored by Jonah Abutu.

Heavy downpour in Jos disrupted the two Federation Cup games scheduled for the city Saturday.

The cup tie between Enyimba and Kogi United was being played before it was brought to an abrupt end by the rain.

The second game of the day in the tin city between Kano Pillars and Kaduna United could not also be played due to the heavy rain.

Both games will now be played on Sunday
