TK Academy will trade tackles with Sheriff Football Club in the final of the Gulder Five A-side Football Championship today at the New Gymnasium, National Stadium, Lagos.
In yesterday’s semi final games, TK Academy defeated D Royal FC by a lone gal while Sheriff beat Mandiba FC 2-1 to book their places in today’s final.
The game promises to be an exciting one as both teams have quality players to make the difference and smile home with the N5m top prize. In the third place game, D Royal FC and Mandiba will fight for the N1m prize money.
Manager of TK Academy, Kehinde Ishola, who was delighted at his team’s performance, promised that the team would surmount all odds to emerge winners of the competition.
“I believe that we have the wherewithal to win this championship. Our Focus is the top prize and we will get it tomorrow (today). We respect our opponents but all that will fizzle out as soon as the game begins,” he stated.
Ishola also described their victory over D Royal in the semi finals as ‘hard-earned’ and assured their teeming supporters that they would prevail over Sheriff FC in today’s game.
“I must also commend the supporters who have kept faith with us since the championship started. We will repay their confidence by winning the top prize.”
The coach of the Five-A-Side national team, Oladunni Oyekale, who was present during the event, gave a special pep talk to the boys.
He encouraged all the teams to put in their best while stressing that the players had a chance to feature for the national Five-A-Side team if they do well enough in the competition.

The eventual winner of the competition will get the whopping sum of N5m while the first and second runners up will get N2m and 1m naira respectively.
