Goal : Wesley Sneijder hit out at Bayern Munich fans and officials after his Netherlands teammate Arjen Robben was whistled off the Allianz Arena pitch by in a friendly game between the two sides on Tuesday.
“This is laughable,” Sneijder told Kicker. “What happened here in Munich is unfathomable. And to such an outstanding player, who brought the club so much success in the past. What’s more, not a single member of the Bayern board of directors stood up and defended him.”
The Inter midfielder, who will turn 28 next month, told the German publication how dumbfounded he was to see Robben being jeered by his own fans every time he touched the ball, on his own pitch, after large chunks of the public apparently attributed him the brunt of Bayern’s responsibility in losing to Chelsea in the Champions League final.
“Fair enough, Arjen missed a penalty, Bayern lost the game. But was it just because of his miss? Why does no one blame Schweinsteiger, who also missed a penalty? Or the numerous players who missed glorious chances?”
