Hertha Berlin 0-2 Borussia Monchengladbach (AET)

Goal :    Borussia Monchengladbach booked their place in the last four of the DFB Pokal thanks to a 2-0 extra-time victory over Hertha Berlin in the German capital.

Neither side were able to decide the tie in 90 minutes, but in the additional 30 minutes, Filip Daems put his side ahead from the spot, before Oscar Wendt ensured the victory with the last kick of the match.

The game started at a slow pace, with both sides seeming anxious to avoid falling behind to an early goal. The hosts’ passing was the more incisive of the two, but Gladbach’s back line stood firm.

As the match wore on, it was Michael Skibbe’s men that began to craft out chances. Pierre-Michel Lasogga had a slim slight of goal from the edge of the area, but scuffed his volley, leaving Marc-Andre ter Stegen with an easy save.

Minutes later, Lasogga had another chance to put his side ahead, and were it not for a vital, perfectly-timed challenge from Roel Brouwers, the 20-year-old would have had a clear sight of goal.
