AFCON: Rwanda should not trouble Eagles – Fuludu

By KATE OBODO

Former Nigerian international Edema Fuludu has said he does not expect Rwanda to trouble the Super Eagles in next month’s Africa Nations Cup qualifier in Kigali.

The Warri Wolves Football Club Director argued that the Eagles are superior to Rwanda in terms of the quality of players as well as experience in the game and therefore need not be scared by them if Keshi is able to put his act together.

“It is all over the newspapers that the team is getting on well in the rebuilding process with the local players. Already Keshi is doing what is expected of him, having camped the home-based players throughout the festive period. But then, he should also be conscious of the fact that the game is very important and must be taken seriously.

He (Keshi) said that he will use more of the local players to execute the match, in order words Keshi is developing and will be giving the local players opportunity and confidence thereby making the foreign-based players to up their game.

I pray that whatever he is doing for the team will turnout to be a new dawn for the team. If Keshi, has a different approach in qualifying us for the 2013 Nations Cup, let us support him against Rwanda to give us a New Year present,” he said.

He opined that the two friendly matches the Eagles played last year against Botswana and Zambia were not measures for judging the team.

“Candidly, I can not give a measure of judgement going by the two friendly matches played against Botswana and Zambia last year because almost all the players that featured in those matches were foreign-based.

“Keshi’s team starts with the combination of home-based players ahead of the Rwanda clash. The truth is that Nigeria is bigger and better than Rwanda. Rwanda do not have the quality of players we have especially foreign-based players, neither is their league better than ours. So, I do not see why we cannot beat Rwanda, though I’m not underrating them,” he concluded.
