Sudan national team concluded their camp in Doha with a goalless draw against Qatari 2nd division side Musaimir.

The game was the Desert Hawks second preparatory game ahead of their participation in the 2012 Orange CAF Cup of Nations which kicks off on January 21st in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

Sudan manager Mohamed “Mazda” Abdullah fielded 2 different squads into the game as he treated every half as a separate game.

The 2nd half witnessed a better performance from the Desert Hawks with Musaimir proving to be worthy opponents to the Sudanese team.

The match must have helped Mazda in his preparation as he looks to announce his final squad of 23 by the 11th of January.

The Sudanese players underwent a medical test yesterday at Aspire medical center. The team will fly to Dubai on Friday where they will have another friendly game against Tunisia who is also preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Mazda’s charges won their first friendly match against Qatari side Al-Jaish by 2-1 scoreline and the coach was equally happy with the way his team played against Musaimir.

Mazda added that the Qatar camp benefits will show in the finals and that he will work on his team’s weakness points in the coming days and the coaching department is also looking at raising his players’ fitness levels. Mazda led Sudan to a bronze medal position last February in the CHAN competition.

Sudan is drawn in Group B alongside Cote d’Ivoire, Angola and Burkina Faso. They will kick off their campaign against Cote d’ Ivoire on January 22nd.
