Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has sought the advice of fans to help him prepare an inspiring team talk when his side take on Manchester United in the FA Cup on Sunday.
The 25-year-old defender invited followers on his new Twitter page to send him their rousing words of which he would choose the best to put onto a poster as well as send the winner his shirt and armband.
“Tweet me what you would say on derby day to inspire the team and I will make sure that on the day it makes a difference,” the skipper offered.
The Belgium international is a new addition to the growing group of players using the social networking site to interact with fans.
“I just hope that by joining I can get closer to the people that are prepared to support me in the good and bad times,” Kompany declared.
“I want to give them an insight into what it means to be playing for the fastest-growing club in the world and a young, promising national team.”
The centre-back has led his side to the top of the Premier League standings, thanks in part to their 6-1 mauling of rivals United earlier in the season.
