Guinness refurbishes eye centre in Onitsha

ShareAs part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives, Guinness Nigeria Plc has given the Guinness Eye Centre in Onitsha a face-lift with the painting of its facility and furniture.

Under this initiative, the company has sponsored two eye centres in Nigeria with the second one located at the Lagos Teaching Hospital.

Speaking at the reception, Head, Sustainability and Responsibility, Guinness Nigeria, Adrianne Nwagwu, argued that the company would continue to support the Guinness eye centres to sustain it as centres of excellence for eye care.

“The facelift of the Guinness Eye Centre Onitsha demonstrates our passion for community involvement and humanitarian service which is the focus of our corporate citizenship initiatives in Nigeria” she said.

In his remarks, Professor Sebastine Nwosu of the Department of Optamology, Nnamdi Azikiwe University expressed his delight at the company’s  efforts at the Eye Centre since inception, adding that the Centre would continue to deliver excellent eye care to patients. He thanked Guinness Nigeria for their support and looked forward to a continued partnership.

Guinness Nigeria, in partnership with the management of Nnamdi Azikwe University, had earlier donated machines worth over N 2 million to the Hospital.

The facelift given to the Eye Centre includes: the painting of the facility and the replacement of furnitures.  Guinness Nigeria currently sponsors two eye centres in Nigeria, with the  second one located at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, in Lagos.
