Egypt: Abu Al-Ghar ‘I Do Not Fear the Advancement of Islamists and the Military Junta Will Lose Part of Its Legitimacy After the Elections’

    Mohamed Abul-Ghar, the Chairman of the “Egyptian Social Democratic” Party (ESDP) said the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) “will lose much of its legitimacy after the elections” and urged SCAF to “return to their barracks.”

    He confirmed that he is not worried about the advancement of Islamists in the elections … “The Islamist Party in Turkey is pushing Turkey forward. If Islamists (in Egypt) are wise and democratic, the state will move forward. If not we will be in a crossfire,” he said.

    Speaking at a rally of the “Coalition of Egyptian Bloc” in the governorate of Sohag, Abu Al-Ghar hoped that the next parliament would includes all political spectrum, pointing out that “There will be a new revolution If the next parliament is not formed of all factions of the Egyptian people.”

    Abu Al-Ghar expected more of parties would join the “Egyptian Bloc” after the elections. The “Coalition of Egyptian Bloc” includes The Free Egyptians Party” (FEP), and the National Progressive Unionist Party” (NPUP), along the ESDP “Who defend the principle of the civil state.”

    In the first phase of parliamentary elections, the “Egyptian Bloc” came in the third place, preceded by the “Alliance for Freedom and Justice” (AFJ) and the Salafist El-Nour” Party. The later two are based on Islamic reference.
