The Centre for Management Development (CMD) has commenced training programmes for about 62 training institutes in Abuja in order to sharpen their knowledge on management development.
Speaking at the event, the Director -General of CMD, Dr. Kabir K Usman, said the programme is meant to address issues of skills gaps, skills shortages and areas of skill mismatched, which were identified as lapses when they conducted accreditation visits to all Federal, state owned as well as private training institutions across the country.
“In Abuja, we have the largest concentration of trainers that develop interest in addressing skill gaps and that is why as a matter of respond, we quickly put on the training programe to support the people who are interested in up-skilling themselves so that they can become more effective in discharging their responsibilities,” he added.
He said that while it is important for trainers to have the pre-requisite for training, which is a degree or higher national diploma, it is equally necessary for them to have professional qualification in order for them to operate as professionals in the areas of management education and administration.
