A four- year-old child died Sunday morning, while seven others sustained serious injuries in a fatal motor accident that occurred at Aseni village, along the Abuja-Lokoja road.

A witness who gave the time of accident as 6:15 am, said it happened when a Hyundai bus with registration number XJ 561 RBC had a burst tyre while on speed and somersaulted, killing the child on the spot.

“Road safety officials were alerted and they rushed the victims, including the corpse to a hospital,” he said.

Our reporter gathered from the accident scene that the child’s father was among the seriously injured victims.

Commenting on the incident, Abaji unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Mr. Joseph Onyemauche Ezeh, attributed the accident to speed limit violation and a burst tyre.

He said the child’s corpse is at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital’s morgue at Gwagwalada, while the injured are in Abaji General Hospital.

In another development, two male adults lost their lives, while five others including a female sustained serious injuries in a multiple accident that occurred in the wee hours of yesterday on Abaji bridge, along the Abuja-Lokoja road.
