LUANSHYA Copper Mine (LCM) the sponsors of MTN Premier League side Roan United is disappointed with the performance of the team in the first leg and has advised the team to pull up their socks in the final lap that resumes this weekend after a two-week recess.

LCM head of public relations, Sydney Chileya said his company was disappointed with the team’s poor run in the first half of the season and have asked players and the technical staff to up their game in the final leg of the league.

Chileya said in an interview in Luanshya that the China Non-Ferrous Metal Company subsidiary was not happy with the team’s poor performance, especially that the side was getting the best support from the company.

Chileya, who is also Roan secretary, said LCM increased the team’s operating budget from about K48 million to K90 million and that players and technical staff’s salaries were paid on time including winning home and away games as well as draw bonuses.

“We would like to urge the technical staff and players that this is the time for Roan United Football Club to pay back to the supporters and sponsors. We had a period to reflect during the mid-season break and we hope that the team will perform well in the second half of the season,” he said.

Chileya said LCM would not entertain poor results from the 1962 Zambian champions who on April 25 shot to the top of the table after defeating Power Dynamos 2-1 in a week five match at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.

The Paul Mulenga-coached side last week received a shot in the arm when Bayport Financial Services donated a set of 30 jerseys to the team.

Roan, who host Kalewa at Kafubu Stadium in Luanshya on Saturday, are 12th on the table with 14 points from three wins, five draws and the same number of defeats, scoring 12 goals and conceding 15.
