Kenya can now lay claim to being a favourite of royals. First Prince William chose Kenya to propose to his wife Kate Middleton. Now a member of the Botswana Royal family chose a Kenyan man to be her husband and Kenya as her wedding location. Lesedi J. Botlhoko recently said ‘I do’ to stockbroker Martyn Konzolo at an intimate service at St John the Evangelist Church, Karen.

Lesedi, the second born child of Mr and Mrs Magqazana are members of the Botswana Royal Family hence the reason for the invite only ceremony that saw her family fly in a few days earlier.

It was an exclusive hush-hush wedding that included a four-horse drawn carriage arriving to pick the newlyweds from church, and top of the range cars for the bridal party and outriders to lead the way.

No expenses were spared as the guests were treated to an “adults only” grand buffet reception at the Karen Blixen Museum and danced under a purple and silver decorated marquee. Martyn’s father, former NSSF Managing Trustee Joseph Konzolo was every bit the proud father as his first born son exchanged vows with his bride.

Lesedi was dashing in a white mermaid gown complete with a crystal beaded bolero while Martyn wore a black morning coat. They could not keep their eyes off each other and kept stealing glances and smiles before they were declared husband and wife.

For Martyn, the three plus years of courting Lesedi while still both students in South Africa, were not in vain as he now has a wife which in Kenyan culture is a gift from God. We wish them all the best in their new life together.
