Kenya Football Coaches Association (Kefoca) chairman Ricky Solomon has thrown his hat into the ring ahead of the August 13 national football elections. Solomon, who is the managing director of the Mombasa-based Mwenge Soccer Academy, said he had decided to vie for a committee member seat owing to pressure from stakeholders and colleagues.

Solomon said owing to his vast knowledge in football running and as a former International player; he has all the desired credentials to salvage Kenya football.

He said he is disappointed with the dwindling standards of foo football. He said he has what it takes to mobilise for sponsorship to help the youth at the grassroots.

“In the last few months, I have traversed all over the country including Garissa, where I spotted a lot of talent.”Nobody cares about the youth especially those at the grassroots and I’m ready to assist them. We have players who can represent this country in regional and continental matches and we should not always rely on KPL players for national assignments,” said Solomon.

Elsewhere, former AFC Leopards defender and Strathmore University FC coach Micky Weche will vie the Lang’ata Football branch chairmanship.
