Dar Es Salaam — The Copa Coca-Cola U-17 Championship heads into the home stretch with three teams sealing their places in the semi-final stage.

Ilala, Kigoma and Kilimanjaro dispatched their opponents on Sunday and are now poised to battle it out for final berths. The semi-final stage starts tomorrow at the Karume Memorial Stadium with Temeke taking on Kigoma while Kilimanjaro will clash with the winner of yesterday’s match between Morogoro and Tanga.

TFF Youth Development committee chairman Msafiri Mgoyi said yesterday that the federation was satisfied with the standard displayed by all participating teams. “Many gifted players have so far been spotted, so we hope youth teams’ coaches will pick the right youngsters,” he said.

According to Mgoyi, the semi-final would be tough for all teams considering the quality displayed since the start of the tournament.

“We’re left with four matches only, which I believe will be very competitive,” he said.

The winner of the tournament will take home Sh4.5 million while the first and second runners up will get Sh3m and Sh2m, respectively.(Imani Makongoro)
