Dar Es Salaam — Young Africans striker Jerry Tegete has been ruled out of Thursday’s Kagame Castle Cup match against minnows Elman of Somalia.
Tegete sustained a thigh injury when Young Africans were forced to a 2-2 draw by El Merreikh of Sudan on Sunday. The striker, who is struggling to rediscover his scoring touch, played for 21 minutes before being called off.
Speaking with The Citizen yesterday, the Mwanza-born forward voiced his optimism of making a quick recovery. “The injury won’t keep me on the treatment table for a long time, I’m looking forward to starting training in a few days,” he said.
Tegete showered praise on the Sudanese team and expressed his disappointment to miss the Thursday encounter. “I did not want to miss a match, but there is no option now. I will hopefully be fit to face Bunamwaya of Uganda next Wednesday,” said Tegete.(Majuto Omary)
