DIANA Muswenje, the Africa junior sprint queen will be among athletes expected at the Western Provincial championships in Mumias Sugar Sports Complex this weekend. Muswenje won gold medals in the 100 and 200m in the Africa junior championships in Sudan this year. The Athletics Kenya provincial chairman, Henry Alukhaba said other top names expected include Commonwealth 400m participant Grace Kidake of Posta, Busia half marathon champions Eliud Kimeli and Caren Turas, both students and long distance runners from Mt. Elgon. Alukhaba said four counties, Bungoma, Kakamega, Vihiga and Busia that make up 19 districts will parade their runners for the event.

The athletics boss said the event will be used to select a team to represent the province at the national championships in Nairobi between July 14-17.
