One person was killed while property worth millions of naira were destroyed following a land dispute between Owerre-Ezukala and Ogbunka communities in Anambra. Briefing newsmen at the scene of the incident on Saturday, the state’s deputy governor, Mr Emeka Sibeudu, said he got a distress call and rushed to the scene only to discover the mayhem. Sibeudu said the state government was doing all it could to resolve the land dispute between the two communities before the latest incident.

THE Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adisa Bolanta, has said four unnamed aides of one of the factional leaders of the state council of the NURTW declared wanted in the wake of the crisis in the union, Mr. Mukaila Lamidi (aka Auxilliary), were arrested by the police on Friday.

He told journalists on Sunday evening that the command was closing in on Lamidi.

He explained that although, the factional union leader was at the scene when policemen arrived in the area around Iwo Road, he managed to escape through the crowd.

He said the four people arrested were being interrogated, adding that they might give useful information that could help the command in its efforts to track down the union leaders.

Bolanta expressed the hope that Lamidi and his rival, Alhaji Lateef Akinsola (aka Tokyo), would soon be apprehended.
