Taha to Train Sports Teachers

Kibaha — THE Tanzania Amateur Handball Association (TAHA) has vowed to train more teachers on the sport after being impressed by the standards shown at the just ended Inter-Secondary School games, UMISSETA.

TAHA Secretary General, Nicholas Mihayo said they realized that there were a lot of talented handball players who needed to be nurtured.

Mihayo said most of the players were just lacking the techniques but possess all the needed qualities including well built statures and strength, which he pointed out to be key aspects for any handball player.

“I have attended the games from day one and I will do so in the coming inter-primary games, my ultimate goal is to ensure that I get youth best players,” he said.

He revealed that they have picked a good number of players whom he said will be used in various youth tournaments. Mihayo commended the Lake Zone which he said their selection was among the best, adding that other zones produced superb performances than expected.

He said TAHA was working on modalities to see how best sports teachers can be trained so that they impart their students with the rules and techniques of the game.

Mihayo named some of the girl players selected from the games as Asia Ramadhani, Lilian wilson, Grace James, Mary Kajigili, Anna Michael, Scolastica Mdeme, Tukushubira David and Cecilia Msichura.

The list also includes Sharifa Bilal, Elizabeth Mlula, Consolata Jumo, Salome Mbeya, Julieth Materu, Elice Nindi, Winfrida Mpangula, Yulitha Masanyiwa, Zainab Simba, Sona Lucam and Janeth Stephen.
