Freetown — As part of its modernization programme, the Board of Directors of the National Revenue Authority (NRA) has, over the past month, rigorously screened in-house candidates for the position of Assistant Commissioner, Domestic Tax Department (a merger of the Income Tax Department [ITD] and Goods and Services Unit [GST] some six months ago). Also, three former staff of the ITD, Messrs Edward Siaffa, S.S. Kamara, and David A. Lansana have become the new Assistant Commissioners in the DTD.
David Alpha Lansana, who hails from Kenema District, is now the Assistant Commissioner for the large taxpayers’ office.
S.S. Kamara is now the Assistant Commissioner for the small medium size taxpayers’ office in the DTD; while S.S. Siaffa is the Assistant Commissioner for Monitoring and Policy Development in the DTD: both are indigenes of Kailahun District.
The appointment of these three staff on sheer merit, and the fact that all three of them are south-easterners, has been hailed by watchers of the NRA who have been deploring the regional imbalance among senior management staff in that national institution.
One of them hailed the President, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, who in his recent visit to Kenema, manifested his determination to be ‘Father of the Nation’ not a family of one region alone.
