Concord Times (Freetown) 23 June 2011 Freetown — Lead sponsors of the Sierra Leone Premier League, Africell mobile company, has announced that the eventual winner of the 2011 league season will collect the sum of Le15 million cash while the runner-up will walk away with Le7.5 million. As the 2011 league season approaches its final stage with less than 12 games to go in all, Africell alongside their associate sponsors Mercury International has decided to officially release the prize at stake with four teams having their eyes firmly fixed on the prize and the championship crown. Africell's corporate affairs officer, Joe Abass Bangura, said aside the total sum of Le22.5 million for both winners, there are other cash prizes and certificates to go as individual awards to the highest goal scorer, best goalkeeper, best defender, best midfielder and the best coach.

Freetown — Nepean Stars of Bo has become the first team in the 2011 Africell-sponsored Premier League season to be relegated.

The Stars’ relegation was confirmed after Freetown City Football Club (FCFC) secured a 1-0 win over Bo Rangers to end Rangers’ 10-game unbeaten run in Freetown on Tuesday. The victory moves the Mayor Boys three places up to ninth in the log with 12 points.

Nepean Stars are lying 13th in the table with four points from 11 matches played and just two games to go. Even wins in their two remaining matches will not save their season as they will end up with 10 points – two points shy of Kissy All Stars on 12th position with 11 points from 10 matches.

Despite surviving the relegation battle last season, the Bo boys cannot hold on to the fight this season, thereby seeing their more than five years stint in the Premiership hitting the rocks.

However, despite suffering their first defeat in the league, Bo Rangers remain fifth in the log with 17 points from 10 matches; they are also in contention for the league crown despite trailing league leaders Ports Authority by four points.
