GNL Hands Over Cheque Amounting to Over D85,000-00 to a Winner

The Gambia National Lottery Branch in Basse has recently handed over a cheque amounting to over eighty five thousand one hundred and thirty dalasis to one Ousman Barry, a retired driver and native of Bassending village at a colourful ceremony held at its Branch Office in URR.

Speaking at the presentation Alhagie Malick Sabally the GNL branch Manager in URR highlighted that the day is another important milestone registered by his organisation. He pointed out that the history of GNL in URR is over 13 years dating back from 1998. He said since the inception of the company in the Gambia, it has registered so many success stories by contributing immensely to the socio economic development. He also said his organization’s efforts have started paying dividend, improving performance and restoring customer confidence which according to Mr. Sabally is crucial towards building the revenue base of the Gambia National Lottery.

He thanked the customers in URR for their active participation and urged the people in the region to embrace GNL whole heartedly.

Mr. Donken Sillah, speaking on behalf of the transportation union president expressed his satisfaction over GNL contribution to employment creation and socio economic development of the country. He urged the people in URR to continue patronising the company, so as to benefit from the millions distributed by the company in the greater Banjul area. Mr. Lamin Camara who works at the Basse Immigration office also expressed similar sentiments. He said the company has contributed and still contributing to the education of school children particularly the girl child. He urged the people to support the company to be able to realise their aims and objectives in National development.

Pateh Jawo and Mandu Kanteh also made similar remarks and urged the people to support GNL and take ownership of the company. Mr. Mustapha Sonko speaking on behalf of the GNL manager shortly after handing over the cheque to the beneficiary, urged all and Sundry for support to the GNL; noting that it is a Gambian company which needs the support of all.

Ousman Barry the beneficiary of the Jack pot said he has started playing with GNL since the inception of the company in URR. He said he has been winning up to six thousand but this is his fist time of winning such a large amount.
