Kenya: Abaiki Olosho Tourney Set for This Weekend in Narok

The second edition of Tabaiki Olosho soccer tournament will be held this weekend at Narok University College sports ground. According to the tournament coordinator, Anthony Wafula, the one-day event will bring together four teams including a Japanese side.The teams expected are Narok Boys High School, Narok South District giants Rongena FC, Rangers from Melili area and Japan-based Samurai FC.

Wafula said the tournament is being sponsored by Tabaiki Olosho organization, Ewaso Nyiro South Development Authority (ENSDA), Narok District Hospital and Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

He said the main aim of the tournament is to create awareness among the youth on the dangers of HIV/AIDS .”We will conduct youth counseling session under which we will provide VCT services and enlighten them on environmental conservation,” said Wafula.

ENSDA managing director Charles Sunkuli said the authority would also demonstrate the use of briquette as alternative source of energy in the region, which is under Mau forest. In addition, the Japanese will have a chance to display their traditions to the locals Maasai who are among the few communities that still preserve their culture. Narok University College won the inaugural event after beating Enaibelbel FC 3-2.
