Tanzania: Mgosi Attracts as Vita, Motema Pembe

Kinshasa — SIMBA SC striker Musa Hassan ‘Mgosi’ has attracted the attention of DR Congo giants DC Motema Pembe and AS Vita.

Mgosi, who is among Simba’s leading strikers was at his best but saw his side crushing out of the CAF Confederation Cup, after conceding 2-0 defeat to DC Motema Pembe at the Stade De Martry in Kinshasa on Sunday.

He gave the visitors’ defence an evening to remember with pace and tricks, only that blunt finishing let his side down. It was his performance that convinced the officials from the two clubs to chase him.

The ‘Daily News’ witnessed officials of the two clubs tracing Mgosi back to the hotel after the game as they each fought for the striker’s to talk, in a possible move to lure him for his signature.

DC Motema Pembe are also keen to sign Mgosi’s partner striker Emmanuel Okwi, in a bid to strengthen their squad for the group stage of the CAF second tier clubs tournament.

The Ugandan striker though, is on a brink of signing for South Africa’s giants Kaizer Chiefs after excelling in a two weeks trial last month.

“It’s true, I met some people who said to have been sent by DC Motema Pembe officials to talk to me about the possibility of joining their team. I told them to come to Dar es Salaam for further talks because at that moment I was unsettled after we had lost the match,” said Mgosi.

Officials from the AS Vita also knocked on Mgosi’s door as they were seen in the hotel on Monday morning busy hunting for the diminutive striker.

“I held talks with Vita officials as well and they settled to offer me a 5,000US dollar salary a month but I also told them to come to Dar es Salaam for further talks with Simba leaders,” he said.

Simba Vice Chairman Geoffrey Nyange ‘Kaburu’ said the leadership was well aware that the two Congolese giants are in chase of their star but said he is not convinced that Motema Pembe could afford to sign Mgosi.

“They can not afford to pay us the amount we want, should we decide to sell Mgosi. Neither can they afford to buy Okwi,” said Nyange.

Simba have already released Mbwana Samata and Patrick Ochan each for a 150,000 US dollar transfer fee to another Congolese side TP Mazembe. They are each paid 5,000 US dollar monthly salary.
