Nairobi Star (Nairobi) Alphonce Gari 21 June 2011 Police in Tana county are demanding payment of their outstanding dues for a successful disarmament in Bura Tana River that led to the recovery of 15 firearms. The officers are among others from the Administration Police, Rapid Deployment Unit and the General Service Unit drawn from the region to disarm the Orma and the Wardei in Bura Tana District in March.

Strathmore University came from two goals down to hold Nationwide League leaders Mahakama at Hope Centre on Sunday.The draw was a major upset for the leaders who were targeting to open a six-points lead at the top ahead of second-placed Oserian FC from Naivasha. Mahakama have 27 points, three ahead of Oserian who lost 1-0 to Admiral in Mombasa on Saturday and settled to a barren draw with Magongo Rangers on Sunday at the same venue. Mahakama took the lead barely 20 minutes into the match through former Tusker and Sony Sugar striker Aden Hassan, who utilised a pass from Simon Juju. John Maya made it 2-0 before the breather after being set up by Bernard Meki. Strathmore pinned Mahakama in their own half in the second half with James ‘Junior’ Kombo pulling one back in the 50th minute from Kevin Omondi’s pass. Samuel Mwangi’s screamer in the 70th minute put the tie level.
