Edmund Kagire 20 June 2011 Kigali — The High Court will, today, begin hearing the case of Victoire Umuhoza Ingabire, the leader of the yet-to-be-registered political party FDU-Inkingi. Last month, Ingabire, who has been in detention since October last year, requested the High Court to adjourn her case on grounds that she needed more time to study her file with her lawyers. Ingabire is facing terrorism charges with the prosecution alleging that she was working with senior FDLR militiamen to form a military wing to her unregistered party FDU known as Coalition of Defence Forces (CDF), aimed at destabilising the country

Enugu State Sports Council has presented some equipment to the weightlifting association to help their lifters to improve on their training for the 17th National Sports Festival in Port Harcourt.

The equipment includes small and big size discs and barbells.

Livinus Agwu, the Acting Director of Sports said on Wednesday in Enugu that the equipment would help the lifters to improve on their training while in camp.

“The council provided these equipment because we observed that some of the ones you have are worn out.

“We decided to purchase them on credit to help to motivate you in your training in preparation for the festival,” Agwu said.

He noted that Eucharia Abel, who was a weightlifter and currently a coach in the state, had won three gold medals for the state at the last festival in Kaduna in 2009.

The acting director wished them well in their training as they prepared for the event.

Abel, who spoke on behalf of the weightlifters, promised that they would utilise the equipment judiciously.
