Freetown — One of Sierra Leone’s leading GSM operators, Africell mobile company, has once again demonstrated its love for sports, especially football by sponsoring the ongoing Inter-Ministerial Football Gala with a whooping Le10 million.

The competition, which is hosted at the National Stadium main bowl, is a deliberate move to unite all government ministries in the country in the name of sports.

On Saturday June 11, the Ministry of Information and Communications maintained their unbeaten record by defeating the Ministry of Lands, Country Planning and the Environment 1-0 in the first Semi-Final match. The Lands Ministry was on top of the game for the first twenty-five minutes of play, but their defence could not stop the dynamic and skillful wizard, Kwame Yankson of the Ministry of Information from hitting the back of the net in the 27 minute of play.

On June 18, Office of the President will lock horns with the Human Resources office in the last Quarter-Final match and the winner will face the Ministry of Mineral Resources in the second Semi-Final match scheduled for Saturday June 25.

President Ernest Bai Koroma is expected to be the guest of honour for the Grand Final match between the Ministry of Information commonly known as I.B. Kargbo Boys and the winner of the second Semi-Final.
