Fulham defender Philippe Senderos has put his injury woes behind him and wants to make his mark at Craven Cottage at last.
Senderos was limited to playing just four games for Fulham after joining last summer, but recovered enough to cap the season off with an international appearance for Switzerland against England recently.
“Playing for Switzerland was a great end to what was a tough season for me where I had no chance to show Fulham fans what I can do,” the ex-Arsenal central defender told The Fulham & Hammersmith Chronicle.
“To come back after the injury and end the campaign on a high note has left me with a great feeling going into the new season.”
The 26-year-old joined Fulham on a free transfer twelve months ago after falling out of favour at Arsenal, but while poor defensive displays have continued at the Emirates, Senderos has not yet had the opportunity to show Arsene Wenger what he is missing.
Now he must impress new boss Martin Jol.
“The most important thing for me next season is just to stay fit and to stay on form after the frustrating year I’ve had,” said Senderos, who currently has 42 caps for his country.
“There’s a lot to look forward to and I can’t wait to start playing in Europe again.
“I think as a club we should aim to do at least as well as last season. There’s no reason to limit our ambitions.”
After an eighth-place finish in the Premier League last season, Fulham now prepare for the first qualifying round of the Europa League.
