Angola: Government Enters Second Phase of Youth Credit

    Benguela — The 2nd phase of the Youth Credit, estimated at Usd 2.5 million to cover more than 20,000 people from 15 to 35 years of age throughout the country, was officially launched on Thursday in central Benguela province by the minister of Youth and Sports, Gonçalves Muandumba.

    The project under the “Angola Jovem” programme aims to provide micro-credit to encourage the entrepreneurship for the youth to start trade.

    According to the minister, the 2nd phase will include youths with individual capacity to refund or associated in cooperatives.

    The Youth Credit is a partnership between the Ministry of Youth and Sport, the Ministry of Employment and the BPC and Sol banks, and benefited 15,000 youths in the first phase.

    The project was launched in 2006 to benefit 20,500 youths.
