Ghanaian goalkeeper Razak Brimah has quit Spanish side Real Betis over lack of playing time at the top level.

The 23-year-old met club officials this week over terms of his permanent contract with the traditional club.

Even though they offered him a permanent deal to stay he was not guaranteed first team place which resulted in his decision to quit.

Brimah says even though he wants to play at the top level, lack of first team action is hampering his desire to play for the Ghana national team.

“I have been sitting on the bench for two seasons now and for the target I have set myself it is not good enough,” Brimah told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“I understand that there are two senior goalkeepers ahead of me but I also have to play to develop my talent that’s why I could not take the offer.

“I want to play for the Black Stars and sitting on the bench every week will not help my cause so I sadly decided to say bye to the club.

“They have been very supportive of my career and I appreciate it. But I need to move somewhere where I can play regularly.”

Razak, who turns 24 in a few weeks, made his debut with the first team Betis in the Copa del Rey match against Salamanca in September.

The goalkeeper was poached from Spanish second division side Polideportivo Ejido after he had excelled in the league tow seasons ago.
