Luanda — The Mozambican Parliament speaker, Verónica Nataniel Macamo Dlhovo, Saturday in Luanda, spoke of the need for intensification of cooperation between the two countries’ law-making houses, to the interest of both peoples and nations. Verónica Macamo was speaking at the opening of official talks between delegations from

Angolan and Mozambican parliaments, as part of the five-day visit to Angola she started on Thursday, intended to reinforce cooperation.

The speaker that stated that cooperation brings reciprocal advantages, mentioned upgrading of MPs and officials from both parliaments, especially in the fields of information technologies and communication, as essential for the strengthening of the excellent relations between the two countries.

On the other hand, the Mozambican official spoke of the situation prevailing in her country, saying his country is enjoying peace, the institutions are functional and the consolidation of democracy is making steady progress. She said that despite the hurdles caused by the international financial crisis of last year, the country is experiencing an environment of political and macro-economic stability, stating that the fight against poverty and propagation of Hiv/Aids continue high on Government’s agenda.

Verónica Macamo expressed satisfaction with the environment of peace and security prevailing in southern Africa where, according to her, one can speak of political stability and consolidation of democracy, despite the world crisis.

However, she expressed concern about the situation in Madagascar, and called for dialogue and international support for the country to reach understanding, enjoy peace and relaunch its economy.
