Police Tighten Watch to Fight Violent, Organised Crime

    Luanda — The Riot Police commander, commissioner Alfredo Lourenço Quintino “Nilo”, said Saturday in Luanda, that his forces will continue upgrading the levels of preparation and reinforce vigilance seeking a fiercer fight against violent and organised crime in the country.

    The officer was addressing the main event of the celebrations of the Riot Police’s 19th anniversary.

    He said on the occasion there is need for an elevation of the levels of preparation, training and techno-professional upgrading of the forces.

    Speaking of the activity carried out in the 19 years of their existence, he said the Riot Police have successfully accomplished their missions and are thus ready to face the new challenges.

    The June 4 was established as the Riot Police in homage to the first mission assigned to the special force, during the visit to Angola of Pope John Paul II, in 1992, at a time the situation in the country was very unstable.
