Tottenham Hotspur striker Peter Crouch has no intention of retiring from international duty with England despite his continuing status as a fringe player under Fabio Capello, Press Association Sport understands.

The 30-year-old frontman boasts an impressive record of 22 goals from 42 games for his country but has only featured twice since May 2010 under Capello, being taken off in England’s frustrating draw at home to Montenegro last October and coming on in a friendly defeat against France at Wembley a month later.

After not even making the substitutes’ bench for Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Switzerland, there had been rumours that Crouch would follow in the footsteps of Ben Foster, Paul Robinson, Wayne Bridge and several others in declaring himself unavailable for the national side.

But sources close to the player have reportedly indicated that the Spurs striker will continue to put himself up for selection despite his frustration at a lack of opportunities, and the player himself is expected to confirm his intentions at a function for one of England’s sponsors on Tuesday.
