President Appoints Seven Women as Ambassadors

The Daily Observer (Banjul) Sidiq Asemota 1 June 2011 One Pape Saine of Kunkujang Keitaya village in the West Coast Region, was also on Tuesday 31st of May 2011, convicted and sentenced to 14 years imprisonment by the Special Criminal Court in Banjul, presided over by Justice Joseph Enwa Ikpala. The accused, Pape Saine was alleged to have unlawfully had sexual intercourse with a 20-year-old girl without her consent on the 1st of February, 20110 in Kunkujang Keitaya village in the West Coast Region.

Luanda — Angolan head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, Wednesday appointed 32 ambassadors with stress to seven women.

The president appointed Isabel Mercedes da Silva Feijó as ambassador to Greece; Josefina Perpétua Pitra Diakité went to South Africa; Maria de Jesus dos Reis Ferreira, Austria; and Lizeth Nawanga Satumbo Pena as ambassador to Hungary.

Josefina Guilhermina Coelho da Cruz, Cape Verde; Balbina Malheiros Dias da Silva, Zambia; and Ana Maria Teles Carreira, Ghana, also share the list of women appointed to head the Angolan diplomatic missions abroad.

On the other hand, the Angolan statesman named Nelson Manuel Cosme, former director for Africa and Middle East Department as ambassador to Brazil, Florêncio Mariano da Conceição de Almeida “Mário Cabral”, ex-director for bilateral cooperation of Foreign Affairs Ministry (Mirex) as head of diplomatic mission to Italy.
