PRESIDENT Rupiah Banda has challenged the Zambia soccer squad to beat Mozambique in this afternoon’s 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at Nchanga Stadium in Chingola.

In his goodwill message to the team when he met coach, Dario Bonnetti at the on-going Copperbelt Agriculture , Mining and Commercial Show in Kitwe, the President said that he expected the Chipolopolo to triumph over the Mambas.

He said the team needed support from everybody in its quest to seek a berth at the bi-annual continental tournament to be co-hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea next year.

President Banda urged soccer fans across Zambia to come up in numbers and give maximum support to the team.

Bonnetti assured the President that the team was ready to ‘die a little’ and bring glory to the nation and the morale was high in camp.

And 40 soccer fans who won the MTN Bola SMS competition yesterday left for Chingola to watch the national soccer team play Mozambique in the 2012 Africa Cup qualifier scheduled for Nchanga stadium today.

The 40 who have been kitted out in Chipolopolo regalia by MTN were joined by other members of the Chipolopolo Soccer Fans Association (CSFA) on the luxurious 70-seater Mazhandu Family bus to the Copperbelt.

Apart from transport to and from the match and the Chipolopolo attire, MTN is also providing fully paid accommodation and meals at a cost of K300 million. The lucky punters will also dine with national team players at an exclusive dinner.

MTN chief marketing officer Ernst Fonternel said during the send off ceremony that the giant mobile service provider which recently took over the sponsorship of the Premier Division was without doubt Zambia’s biggest football sponsor.
