‘Struggle Kids’ Arrested for Stripping

SIX of the 60 children of the liberation struggle currently camping at Oshakati after being chased away from Berg Aukas last year appeared in the Oshakati Magistrate Court on Wednesday on a charge of public indecency.

The accused stripped themselves naked in the charge office at Oshakati Police Station on Tuesday late afternoon, said Oshana Police Commander Commissioner Ndahangwapo Kashihakumwa.

All six are male.

According to Commissioner Kashihakumwa the six ‘children’ on Tuesday afternoon went to a bar at Game Shopping Complex and were accosting members of the public there. The Police were called and arrested them and brought them to the Police station. At the Police Station the accused apparently became rude, shouting and insulting Police officers.

In the process, Commissioner Kashihakumwa said, some of them stripped themselves naked in the presence of Police officers.

“They were so rude, that one could think, that they have used something else than just alcoholic drinks, maybe drugs, you don’t know, because they were so aggressive,” Commissioner Kashihakumwa said.

“These children had gone completely wild,” he said.

The case of the six, Kaali Kadhila, Petrus Angula, Erasmus Namhila, Moses Mwandingi, Hango Shaanika and Junias Haivinga was postponed for further Police investigation. They were granted bail of N$300 each. The Namibian has learnt that only some of them could pay the bail.

Three weeks ago, the protesting group went to the Angolan Consulate in Oshakati and asked authorities to take them back to Angola where they were born because they are not wanted by the Namibian Government.

The leader of the group of 60, Jonas Mahoka, told The Namibian that the Police acted unfairly towards the six strippers, because only one person stripped himself naked and not all six.
