Luanda — The executive director of the Luanda International Fair (FIL), Matos Cardoso, said Friday here that the first International Fair on Environment, Services and Technologies represents the engagement of Angolan Government in the protection and foment of environmental policies.
Speaking to the press on the fringes of the fair, Matos Cardoso said the event shows that the Government, businesses and civil society are concerned about environmental issues and committed to discuss challenges and solutions.
He said the event is an opportunity for investors in the fields of urbanisation, construction, agriculture, forest, industry, energy, transport, technology, oil and others to discuss the challenges in the domains of energy, water, air, soils, basic sanitation and wastes.
According to the official, inadequate use of the environment has been causing natural calamities, destruction of social and business infrastructures in the world and in the country, and even the disapperance of towns and cities.
Matos Cardoso revealed that under a partnership accord between FIL and the Ministry of Environment, three editions of fair will be held, with the two left set for 2012 and 2013.
The ongoing first International Fair on Environment, Equipment, Services and Technologies is being attended by companies from Angola, Brazil, China, Denmark, South Africa, Nigeria, Spain, Germany and USA.
