Dennis Onyango, Uganda Cranes first choice custodian, was happy to silently slip into the country on Wednesday night for the crunch Africa Cup of Nations fixture against Guinea Bissau on June 4 at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
The agile shot-stopper remarked that, although he still had a defining career decision to make, he was fired up for the game. “Everyone is talking up the game. We are on top in our group and must work hard to stay there.
It is going to be a pressure game but there is no pressure on me. I will put my body on the line and ensure we remain unbeaten. I know my job,” commented the 26-year-old on the game that will most likely confirm Uganda’s slot at the 2012 Gabon and Equatorial Guinea tournament. Onyango confirmed speculation that he was on the move from relegated South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Mpumalanga Black Aces.
Next destination
“All I can say for now is that I will not be playing for them (Black Aces) in the lower tier. There are three options and it means a lot to me. My agent (Ivica Stankovic) is finalising things and by the end of business on Saturday, my next destination will be known,” said Onyango without divulging much information on his pursuers.
Onyango has been linked to PSL sides Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and Maritzburg.
