The High Court yesterday heard that Brenda Karamuzi, the lady who was murdered and dumped in a septic tank last year met her death in Muyenga, a Kampala suburb, where the prime suspect, Mr Thomas Nkulungira, alias Tonku, stays.

The details was revealed through call printouts presented to High Court in Kampala by detective Enock Kimario, who is attached to the CID headquarters. The session was presided over by Justice Albert Rugadya-Atwooki.

” Brenda came to Nkulungira’s house on January 18 and on 20, she went to see her mother in Namasuba and upon her return on the 21, she did not leave his house from 23 until her body was retrieved from the septic tank,” said Mr Kimario.

However, Mr John Barenzi, one of Nkulungira’s lawyers, interrupted him, asking: “Who told you that she went to see her mother?” In reply, Mr Kimario said he was able to establish that basing on the corroborating evidence. However, the judge intervened and advised Mr Kimario to only stick to what he knows, saying the deceased’s mother, Ms Joy Karamuzi would talk about the matter.

Prosecution led by Ms Joan Kagezi alleges that Mr Nkulungira and his shamba boy Mr Fred Ssempijja, between January 21 and January 30 last year at Kijjwa zone-Bukasa in Muyenga, murdered Ms Karamuzi and stuffed her body in his septic tank. The accused deny the charges.

Her body was discovered on January 30 by a fumigator.

Mr Kimario, who was the 14th prosecution witness, told court that he was given two lines with instructions to retrieve data from them in respect to the deceased’s phone number and that of the prime suspect.

He said the data needed was that covering the period of January 18-30. Basing on the call print outs, in his testimony, Mr Kimario told court that on January 22, the day the deceased is believed to have been murdered, the deceased communicated while in Najjera at around 12pm, then in Muyenga at 8pm and at 10pm the location changed to read Kirombe in Muyenga though he did not tell which numbers she was communicating with.

Ms Kagezi, who was leading him to testify, asked him in his opinion to tell court where he thinks the deceased was on the fateful day. “In Muyenga”, he said.

Earlier in the day, three prosecution witnesses who had earlier testified were recalled to clarify on certain evidences since the charge sheet was amended last week.

Those who were recalled included Mr Ssepijja’s girlfriend, Ms Joan Nakira, the deceased’s friend Ms Caroline Ndibarungi and one of the investigating police officers, Ms Grace Auma. The hearing resumes on Monday.
