Eenhana — NAMIBIAN authorities have run into problems with the extradition from Angola of two Angolan suspects in the killing of Portuguese businessman Dos Santos Alves Henriques Jorge Manuel (47).
When approached for comment on the investigation, Ohangwena Regional Police Commander Commissioner Armas Shivute confirmed that the two suspects, Sebastiao Augusto, a 31-year-old Angolan Police officer, stationed at Santa Clara on the other side of Oshikango border post, and a former Angolan soldier Fransisco Dos Santos Aliveira (37), also known as Shiku, are still in Angola.
The Namibian authorities, Shivute said, are in discussions with Angolan authorities to have the two suspects extradited to Namibia to be charged.
“We have a problem because we want these men to come to Namibia to be charged for the murder they committed in Namibia, but when we ask the Angolan authorities to hand them over to us, they said, they still have to deal with them for other offences they committed in Angola before they hand them over to us,” Shivute told The Namibian.
Earlier Deputy Commissioned Abner Agas had told The Namibian both Augusto and Aliveira had appeared in the Ondjiva Magistrate Court, for murder as well as theft of fire arms and ammunitions.
Augusto and Oliveira are accused of abducting, robbing and killing Manuel on April 28 at a village called Ohengobe near Ondobe about 25 kilometres south east of Oshikango.
