MUCH has been said and written about Patriotic Front (PF) president, Michael Sata’s condescending attitude towards the people of Western Province, where he is on record as having threatened to withdraw the recognition of the Litunga should he ever have an opportunity to become Zambia’s leader.

The people of Zambia have come to learn how Mr Sata recommended final closure of the Barotseland Agreement during the second Republic, and yet in his usual capricious style, he is now using the long-forgotten pact as a campaign tool.

Other revelations, and evidence of the spite the PF leader holds against the people of Western Province, came through Finance Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane on Tuesday, when he said Mr Sata, at the time he served as Health minister, attempted to block construction of Mwandi hospital.

To his embarrassment, he was to learn that the hospital project was being undertaken by the Catholic Church. As Dr Musokotwane indicated, there is a whole catalogue of records to illustrate the hateful nature of Mr Sata.

But because he is desperate to attract votes from them, the PF president is reversing and promising the people of Western Province development that he knows he could never deliver to them.

He is clearly being belligerent to the standards he had set for himself as far as Western Province was concerned, which still rule him ineligible to win any support in the area no matter what tactics he employs. This is what veteran politician Sikota Wina has seen through and is saying Mr Sata cannot hoodwink the people of Western Province.
