Bruce Tindyebwa and Aneb Muhirwe put up excellent displays at the Rwamuhanda Memorial Championship held at the weekend in Kabale.
Tindyebwa in particular left everyone in awe with an impressive show of endurance by winning a 10km road race and 800 metres on track.
The youthful runner was unmatched in the road race, posting an impressive 30 minutes, 16.8 seconds.
He could have posted a better time but the chasing pack barely gave him any challenge with second-placed Onesmus Atuhaire crossing the finishing line almost a minute later in 31:00.9.Nicholas Mwebaze came third in 31:33.4.
Tindyebwa then switched to the track, bravely holding off Augustus Aryama to win 800m in 2:14.9. Aryama stopped the clock at 2:21.5. In the sprints, Muhirwe proved he can develop into a world beater with better technical assistance.
He easily won 400m in 56.9 seconds and overpowered everyone in the 100m. The championship organised by Western Region Athletics Association was to celebrate the life of former national hurdler Peter Rwamuhanda.
